Awesome race! Well worth the trip from San Jose, CA to participate. My heartfelt thanks for the enormous work on your part that was surely required to bring this race into existence, and I very much hope that the race can continue in the future and develop into a DC institution. I thought the swim course and entry/exit worked really well. Lots of friendly volunteers eliminated any waits for body marking, etc., and kept the directions on the course clear

This was my first triathlon and I had just a super, wonderful, marvelous experience and my overwhelming sense was how VERY well everything was done. The course was simply fantastic -- really a rare treat to get to bike run and swim amongst such incredible sites. The volunteers and staff were absolutely first rate. There was ALWAYS someone there to show me where to go or to answer my questions.

The volunteers were EXCELLENT - well prepared and encouraging! The MC (Dave, I think) was tremendous! From the safety briefing through the awards ceremony, he was on top of his game. I wanted to write to let you know what a great race this was! It was SO neat to get to ride through the 9th street tunnel and really to ride and run on all of the streets of DC without having to worry about any traffic - amazing that you all were able to pull this off! I got my PR this weekend (great, flat course!!) so I am really pumped about that as well.
My husband and kids came (they've been to all of my other tris as well) and he said it was the most spectator-friendly race that he's been to - with so many opportunities to see the racers it made the morning go by a lot faster for him.
Thanks so much for all of the work that you (and all of the volunteers) put in to make it such a success - I hope to race again next year!

Just wanted to drop a quick note your way and say a BIG thank you for organizing the Nation's Triathlon! I had such a great time, as did my three friends who I raced with. It was such a thrill to swim in the Potomac and have the roads of DC all to ourselves. I've been following the planning of the event in the media and slowtwitch.com for a while, so I'm aware of many of the hurdles you had to jump over. Your efforts are much appreciated.
I was just really impressed with all aspects of the event. The volunteers were especially great.

I just wanted to say congratulations on pulling off an incredible accomplishment. Everything about Saturday was wonderful, from the pre-race communication, to the course itself, to the volunteers. Thanks for all the hard work you put into making it a reality. D.C. is my hometown, so it was particularly meaningful to me to be able to share it with my family and to set an example for my nieces and nephews.
Overall, my experience was one of the most positive of any triathlon (I've been doing these for more than 10 years). Having it in the city was incredible and having such quality sponsors really raised the profile of the event. I'm sure that will only grow in years to come.

I never felt crowded in the water and didn't have issues with trying to get around people once out of the water and on the road. It was an awesome course - ranks right up with the other big city events I've done (NYC, LA, Chicago) in terms of "cool" factor and scenery...especially the finish - wandering around on Pennsylvania Ave with the Capitol on one end and the White House on the other? Are you kidding me? That rocks.

First off -- fantastic race! I've been doing triathlons for 20 years and this was one of the best if not the best. Overall great organization, race management and volunteers. I can only imagine how challenging it was to hold this race in DC an you all did a great job. As word spreads on this race it will become very popular -- as it should. My friends who came up from Va. Beach to do the race said it was the best race and venue of the many races they do. Living in Arlington, I am used to driving from one to a number of hours to a triathlon -- the three mile commute to this one was great! Again, great race and I can't wait to do it again next year.

The organization was excellent, and all the information the athletes needed was easy to access. It was great having the swim portion work out this year and our little dip in the Potomac was well executed with the ladders and floating dock. I loved the bike route and the run route too The changing tents at the finish area were a great addition and I think this was my first race not changing under a towel on the side of the road! Thank you for a great day and all your efforts to make this a memorable event.

The Nation's Triathlon was my first race and I really enjoyed it. The course was super fast and very easy to navigate. The transition area was excellent and I was really happy to see that slots were predetermined. Overall I thought it was a great race and I'm looking forward to doing it again next year.

I loved the race, it was very well organized and well run. It was a beautiful course. I also felt very confident in the security of the transition area, they were very good about stopping people that shouldn't enter and checking everybody on the way out to make sure they had the right equipment. The shuttle back to the transition area was a great option. Thank you for the wonderful race, it was my first Olympic distance and I loved it!!
