The swim course is in the scenic Potomac River with the Washington Monument operating as your sight line to the swim exit. The swim start is just a short two minute walk from the transition area. The bike route takes competitors along the Potomac River and through Rock Creek Park on wide smooth roads perfect for aerobars. The run route is a challenging single loop into downtown DC past the monuments, memorials and history of the Nation’s Capital. This year the finish line has been moved so that it is next to the transition area so that it is easier and more convenient for athletes, their family and friends. Now from one location you can watch the swim, bike, run and finish!!

According to a 2008 participant:
"The venue was amazing. How often do you get the opportunity to swim under the Memorial Bridge, ride without cars through DC, and run on a flat, well-supported course past some of DC’s best landmarks?"

The swim course for The Nation’s Triathlon uses an innovative dual swim start to ensure that athletes are not waiting too long for their swim wave. This innovation was created to allow us to grow the race while providing a top quality athlete experience.

The Nation’s Triathlon bike course is a flat and fast single loop taking competitors along the beautiful Potomac River and out Rock Creek Parkway. The roads are wide and smooth perfect for aerobars.

The Nation’s Triathlon run course is also a flat and fast single loop taking competitors south along the beautiful Potomac River, Washington Channel and out into downtown Washington, DC. Competitors will pass the Washington Monument, Smithsonian Museums and more.
The 2009 Nation’s Triathlon Course is subject to change at any time with or without prior notice.
